Looks like our friend here is coming out of hibernation. He popped right out of the mulch in my little backyard flower garden and regarded me as if I were an intruder -much like I react when approached before I have had my morning coffee.
Seems he wintered over a foot or two below the frostline, as toads are inclined to do. And although His heart and breathing stopped for many months, the cosmic clock kept ticking, and ticking...until a new season came to awaken him.

In a way, throughout the pandemic, haven't we all been living a toad's life, in hibernation with home-based quarantine? We dialed back our lives and hunkered down in our houses with the normal routines of life put on hold.
But now, a new season has finally come. And along with it, we are experiencing a spiritual rebirth, as we venture out into brighter places. With gratitude, we gather our hearts together, in reunion with friends and family. And by God's grace, we are learning to live and breathe again.
For Everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV
